    Autofilling Cells using VLOOKUP

To put things into perspective, I'm a total newbie who just mastered the SUM function..so bear with me..

    Take the following image:
    excel help.jpg
    excel help.jpg

So I manually enter WIDTH and HEIGHT and select the TYPE from a drop down list (its either O, XO, O/V)

I want the rest of the cells to fill automatically.

So TYPE O would only have Left Side, Right Side, Top, Bottom

TYPE XO would have Left Side, Right Side, Top, Bottom, and VERTICAL MIDBAR

TYPE O/V would have Left Side, Right Side, Top, Bottom, and HORIZONTAL MIDBAR

    Your help is appreciated

    Hi,

    Do you mean if you select from the dropdown, the result should be a SUM of the relevant values in the Columns ie;

Dropdown XO Sums Left Side, Right Side, Top, Bottom, and VERTICAL MIDBAR?

Can you clarify & also post a working example Excel file to use?

    Thanks

    Re: Autofilling Cells using VLOOKUP

So I've attached the excel sheet.

And what I need help with is if I select either O,XO or O/V from the list, I want my sheet to auto-fill values of each of the side, top, bottom,V.Midbar, H.Midbar measurements.
    --
    So if I have a (width)48 x (height)60 - O (Type)
the excel sheet should breakdown each side length.

I'm trying to get the boxes to autofill
    LEFT SIDE=60, RIGHT SIDE=60, TOP=48, BOTTOM=48,VERTICAL MIDBAR = "", HORIZONTAL MIDBAR=""
    --

Then if you take the same 48x60, but now select XO from the drop down menu the corresponding values should read:

    LEFT SIDE=60, RIGHT SIDE=60, TOP=48, BOTTOM=48, VERTICAL MIDBAR = 60, HORIZONTAL MIDBAR=""
    --

O Type represents a closed box with four sides.
XO Type represents a closed box with one vertical bar running down the middle.

    Re: Autofilling Cells using VLOOKUP

    Hi canuckshockey,

I've tried a solution using Nested 'IF' Statements.

The Purple fields have drop downs to change the 'Type' value & the Red Cells have the Formulas to change the values based on the selection in the Purple fields.

Let me know if this is getting towards what you need.
