Count cells depending on multiple factors

As seen to the picture above, I have 6 columns with data;
- the first two displaying the name
- the third column displaying the gender
- the fourth column displaying the e-mail adress
- the last column displaying the size of shirt

The two last columns "mannen" and "vrouwen"; M or V (respectively male and female in dutch), are supposed to display how many of each shirtsize there are, but males and females separated.

Currently, the formula i use and thought that was working for the left (mannen) is:

="XS: "&IF($C$4:$C$8="M";COUNTIF($F$4:$F$8;"XS");0)

Only this formula displays all values, even of the sizes that are not male.

I've tried multiple other things that didn't work, I'm not an absolute Excel pro either, who can help me with this?
