    Analysing differences in date and time data presented in two columns

    Hi,

    I am wondering if there is way to analayse date and time data in a way that would allow me to look at time differences.

    I have two columns of data, one has the date and time an entry was made onto a client database, the other shows the date and time an amendment or deletion was made.

    What I would like is a formula that shows the time period difference between the two entries.

    So for example if one column shows 14/02/2014 14:26 and the other shows 14/02/2014 14:28 it would show 1 (minute) as the result.

    I have over 1000 entries to look at and manually it is taking a looooooooong time!

    Any help, really gratefully received.

    Regards

    So for example if one column shows 14/02/2014 14:26 and the other shows 14/02/2014 14:28 it would show 1 (minute) as the result.
    That should show 2 minutes

    take one away from the other

    then you can format the cell with [H]:MM:SS and the result will show in hours ,minutes, seconds
    so
    So for example if one column shows 12/02/2014 14:26 and the other shows 14/02/2014 14:28 it would show 48:02:00 as the result.

    Hi Wayne,

    Thanks for this. I tried this but the answer came out completely different (See below) Whilst I can filter against this, I much prefer the format your answer is produced as I am only really interested in the total number of hours and minutes difference.

    The formula I have used is: A1-A2 = C

    Where:

    A = Change Made Timestamp 17/04/2014 11:59

    B = Original Timestamp 15/04/2014 09:04

    C = Diff 02/01/1900 02:54

    Not sure if this helps.
