In the attached file I want to do a Find/Replace for 599 --> 599.0 and 428 --> 428.0. When I do a F/R for each it tells me it has made 3 and 5 replacements respectively but the data is not changed?
Thanks

Select columns A:B and click the "," number format icon.

Select the entire worksheet, change format to Number with decimal places set to 1. The data format you currently have in the workbook (which you uploaded) is in text format

Changing to number format doesn't work. These are not numbers. They are codes that vary in length. When I change to a number format it fills everything with zeroes (eg, 599.00 but 599.0 is the correct code). Some of the codes have leading zeroes (eg, 038.9), some are 5 digits (eg, 518.81) and yet others can be only 3 digits 486.
Are you extracting these codes, why do u just find/replace them? Instead you can extract the code (3 or 5 letters) directly.
I want to correct those codes that are missing digits. For example 599 should be 599.0, 518 should be 518.00, 398 should be 038.9 etc. Is there a better tool to use than find/replace?
No there really isn't any logic unfortunately. I just can't understand why a simple find/replace 599 with 599.0 won't work?
