Any way to return data from adjacent column?

    Hi all,

    I have a spreadsheet with 2 sheets.

On Sheet2, there are 2 lists. A2:A41 and B2:B41. Here is an example

    NAME1 DATA1
    NAME2 DATA2
    NAME3 DATA3
    NAME4 DATA4

On Sheet1 I have 2 Data Validation lists. The first list, in cell J2, sources from the Names list. The second list, in cell J4, sources from the Data list.

I want it so when you select NAME2 in the first list, it auto-populates DATA2 into the 2nd list. If it can't be auto-populated, I'd like it to limit the list to only the data in the next cell over. Kind of like Dependent Dropdowns. But I think that will be an issue since data is being entered on Sheet2 using barcodes and a scanner and I think it would add a lot of unnecessary work

    Hi Moakes,

    Welcome to the Forum.

It is just enough if we use the validation list on Names column alone in J2. As you have said, we need not have a validation list in cell J4.
In J4, it is just enough if you use the below formula (You need to adjust sheet names and worksheet ranges as required in your original data) :
    Formula: copy to clipboard

Awesome! That worked perfectly. I was able to replicate and make changes to this to add a 3rd column and list. Thank you very much!
