    vlookup not working

    Hi,

    Having trouble with this formula:

But I don't know what is wrong. Basically, I have a sheet with all employees, by last name, first name, salary. I am trying to make it so that on the other sheets, it pulls this value from this sheet.

Can any one spot what the issue is?

    Hi

VLOOKUP does not works like that. See the link and if you still have problems upload a small sample workbook

Perfect, thank you both, I thought I had looked it up, but just missed that the value of the column is supposed to be the column number within the range, makes much more sense. Thank you.

    Re: vlookup not working

One more quick question, is there a way to do 2 cells together, I can't get:
Please Login or Register to view this content.
to work, I have tried putting A5:B5 in Brackets, and I have tried using &. Is this not possible, it's just surname is in one column and first name in another, I would like it to differentiate between the 5 smiths we have working here.

    Kind regards

    Rob

    Re: vlookup not working

An idea is to use 1 helper-hidden column(a2&b2) in eatch sheet concatenating(=a2&b2) the names and use these columns as reference in your formula and another one, is to use an ARRAY INDEX&MATCH formula.
