How to summarize a value from multiple sheets by referencing part of sheet name?

    Summary sheet has headers Jan-Dec

All other sheets have sheet names with the first four characters being the month/day (06/23, 06/03, 12/14, 12/21 etc.)

I need a formula that states:

Sum A1 for all sheets whose name contains the month "06" in the first two characters.

    Any ideas???

Please attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

There is no need to do that...I just need to which functions would allow me to reference the first two characters of all sheet names in a workbook so I can write the rest of the formula

You could use the INDIRECT function to reference other sheets but as Allkey said, a sample makes it easier to provide more specific help. In order to call multiple variable sheets in one formula it would need to be set up as an array formula.
