    Calculation Hours worked

    Hi Guys,

This is my first post and I'm not really sure if I've even put this question in the correct place.

I'm trying to make a way to track if I've worked more or less than the 39 hours/week I'm paid for. At the end of each week, I have a total of how many hours and minutes that I've worked .

On column C I have what I should work.
On column D I have what I did actually work
On column E I'd like to convert automatically Columd D to minutes for calculation purposes
Column F to know if I worked more or less than what I should've subtracting C and E
Column G to have an ongoing tally to know if I need to work more or less
Column H and I could probably be the same thing. Ideally what I'd like is to have a formula pull the information from column G and put it into workdays, hours, and minutes with 1 workday being 7 hours and 48 minutes.

Since I tend to work too much, I'd like to know if I've worked 3 days too much during 1 month, I can take 3 days off the next month to get everything zeroed back to where I don't owe the company anything and vice versa.

I'm not even sure if I'm going about this in the right way with all these columns. Any other ideas and help with formulas in Column E and H would be appreciated.

Thank you for looking at my post.

    Regards,

    Re: Calculation Hours worked

Sorry for my slow response, I've been out of town and didn't have Internet access. Wow! What you both did is really cool. For H3 and I3, what's the 1440 in the formula for? Oh, I got it, it's for a 24 hour work day. I can replace the 1440 for 468 to get a 7 hour 48 minute work day that corresponds to a 39 hour working week. Seems to work.

How did you format the cells? With column F and G, they change color automatically depending if it's larger or smaller than column C. How did you do this?
    For H and I, they're just formated as "Day:hour:minute" ?

Now that I've seen it done, I want to know how

Thank you all for your time. It's really nice from you.

    Regards,
    Chris

For the coloring / highlighting part, conditional formatting has been used..

    Re: Calculation Hours worked

Hi Sarang, Actually I see in my previous post that changing the 1440 to 468 for a 7 hour 48 minute work day doesn't really work. I can have it show 2 days: 17 hours: 56 minutes which doesn't make any sense.

Is there a way so that after 468 minutes of accumulated time that it counts as 1 work day , then anything over that, but less than 1 work day can show up as hours and minutes? I'm not sure if this would be a formula or not.

I hope that I'm explaining OK.

All help is extremely appreciated, thank you so much for your time.

    Regards,
    Chris
