Select Toronto Office Business Type excluding Farm and Farm B

Any help would be highly appreciated.

    Re: Drop Down List Function

Select the cell or cells you wish the dropdown box to be in

    Select the Data tab

Under Data Tools, select Data Validation

From the Allow dropdown, select List

Either type the values you wish to be in the dropdown in the Source box, separated by commas, or select a range which includes all of the values.

    Re: Drop Down List Function

Thanks Speshul, but it does not allow calculations; is there some sort of conditional formatting required to exclude certain calculations based on selections made in drop down list?

I'm not sure I follow. Are you talking in VBA or with Formulas?

    Re: Drop Down List Function

Test File - Drop Down Selection Options.xlsxI may not want drop down but a pivot table maybe where I can select certain calculations...I am a novice hence do not know which functions in Excel would best help me in achieving my goal.

I am attaching the file for easy reference, the first set is ALL IN example.

I want to go to either Option A (which allows deselection of only one type of business in both branches) but it would be great if I can get some help in creating Option B type where I can select/deselect different types of businesses within each branch.

    Re: Drop Down List Function

Thanks Punnam a lot. I see you have created a separate work sheet to be used; can you help me in down the same fuctionality on the original worksheet and possibly a drop down selection list to make it more user friendly....or any other suggestion that you believe makes it easier for end users to slice and dice the report.

    Regards

    Re: Drop Down List Function

Thanks a lot Punnam.....I am looking to use only one table. I have recreated the sample sheet so I can make myself a little bit more clear.

Can you do something like this in the table below (A5:I10)?

Exclude Bike, Car and Truck etc., Can this be a multiple selection drop down?

In this way the users will have flexibility to exclude any categor(y)ies from the selection to see the results?

I like the idea provided by kvsrinivasmurthy above, only thing is that it has too many repititions for end users in row 4. If we can make it easier for end users it will be of great help.
