    Trying to avoid duplicated results

Ok so i have asked this before in the thread entitled "Transfering Multple Data from seperate worksheet without duplicating" but i did not get a single response.

So i have simplified the question a bit in the hope that i can expand on any response i get.

As you can see i am looking for information in column d (Letter) and getting the result to show from column B (number) using the formula in Column G (result 1).

The problem i am having is that if i try to copy or drag the formula down into Result 2 i just get the same answer.

Is ther any way for the next cell down to ignore the previous result?

    Re: Help Please

Your post does not comply with Rule 1 of our Forum RULES. Your post title should accurately and concisely describe your problem, not your anticipated solution.

Use terms appropriate to a Google search. Poor thread titles, like Please Help, Urgent, Need Help, Formula Problem, Code Problem, and Need Advice will be addressed according to the OP's experience in the forum: If you have less than 10 posts, expect (and respond to) a request to change your thread title. If you have 10 or more posts, expect your post to be locked, so you can start a new thread with an appropriate title.

To change a Title on your post, click EDIT then Go Advanced and change your title, if 2 days have passed ask a moderator to do it for you.

(This thread should receive no further responses until this moderation request is fulfilled, as per Forum Rule 7)

    Re: Help Please

Two things. Firstly, can you change the title of your thread into something mmore meaningful? Secondly, what result were you EXPECTING to see in G6, and why?

    Trying to avoid duplicated results

OK so i have changed the title (my apologies)

I have also amended the example to show the result i want.

Basically i'm looking for a way to pull information to the results column but also to ignore the previous results i.e. not to duplicate them)

Many thanks for any possible replies.

This is great, would the same formula work from a seperate workbook?

Re: Trying to avoid duplicated results

When you put this into your main sheet, you may run into problems if the rows dont start in the same place as your mock-up. If you start getting silly results - shout.

Consider me shouting... i thought i knew how most of these formulas work but this one has me stymied.
Do you want me to start a new thread or should i just upload the worksheets.

Re: Trying to avoid duplicated results

What values are you trying to return? All the names on a given dat that are E; then all the names on that date that are L; then all th enames on that date that are N... or something else?

Away for a while. back in a few hours...

Re: Trying to avoid duplicated results

Yes thats correct, you will notice that the daily sheet is split into three sections and each section has yellow cells so the E'e will go into the first section in the yellow cells, the L's will go into the second section in the yellow cells and the N's in the third.

I really appreciate the help on this.

Re: Trying to avoid duplicated results

OK. I understand what you want. However, it is going to be a wee bit tricky. Why? Firstly, it's three forms that you want to populate. That means I'll have to think of a way of making sure it still works if you add/delete a row. Secondly, i'll need to incorporate a way of selecting the correct column to lookup, based on the date. Nothing 's impossible; but don't expect a reply in the next hour or two!!

    Thank You,

I Can confirm though that once the formula are all sorted the daily sheet form will not change (no addition or removal of rows), it is printed out on one sheet of A4 double sided.

i was expecting to have to do the whole sheet 31 times... if you can manage it one go then i'll be very impressed.

Is it a major problem if it is MANDATORY for the Pull sheet to be open when you're working with the Daily sheet?

I can work with that, and i can instruct the person that creates the original document not to change it in any way.

Re: Trying to avoid duplicated results

Try this out. see if you can break it. Adjust the date in Daily sheet, C2...

if it's what you want, I'd like to make a tweak at C3.

Re: Trying to avoid duplicated results

OK. I'd just like to remove the values at c3 and build them into the formula; unless that gets very, very messy. I'll get back to you...
