String an "IF" and "LOOKUP" (H or V) function together.

Some of the entries in the HLOOKUP I am using may be empty cells and returns a value of zero. I want to string the following "IF" function with my HLOOKUP function to resolve the zero return:=IF(CellRef="","",CellRef). Is this possible? If so how?
