    Creating meal plans using formulas

I have been looking around the board for my answer, and have found some good ones. But none that seem to work correctly, or none that i am completely understanding. Shade tree excel user, and basically learn as i go or needed.

I am attaching the excel file i have so far. In sheet one is the different meals i want to create. In sheet two, it holds the description, along with all the food macros.

I want to pick the food type from a drop down, and have excel load up the nutrition values associated. there is also a "Number of servings" column, that would need to multiple everything to show correct values. Like to stay away from using a Macro(s).

thank you for any and all help.

Check out the formulas in Meal 1 (B13:C19 and E13:I19) and see if that does what you want.

See attached. Look at the formulas in the line for Apple and copy down as needed.

Re: Creating meal plans using formulas

    Thank you both.

alansidman Thanks for all the formulas, they work great. Anyway to leave a row blank, and for the values to still total. I worked around it by adding a "Blank" Food item to grab in the drop down menu. that allowed the =SUM formula to flow.

Just thinking out loud, would it be possible to tally up all of the values in each row. to sum it all up would be easy, but i would like a grocery list per say. It would show each item, and a total for everything.

Daily Food List and Nutrition associated with it. That way i know all of the values this person will be in-taking daily.

    Does that make sense?

Something like I have added to Sheet2 maybe? And the total should still add without needing a blank food item, just with a simple SUM function - it ignores blank cells.
