Getting #VALUE! when summing cells with Census data
I would like to aggregate Census of Agriculture data. It has a lot of "(D)" and "-" in cells and I am getting the #VALUE! result all over the place because of these nonnumeric entries. I tried converting formulas to SUM functions but the numerous ways that the input has these offending cells is very large and I can't figure out how to construct the SUM functions so that they eliminate the problem.
A regular SUM() will ignore the text and just add the numbers....

A7=SUM(A1:A6)
