DROPDOWN LIST ISSUES | filtered, sorting, data validation

I have attached an excel file because it's difficult to explain without it.

Anyway, the excel file has an entry table A1:A10, where the user enters the date for the Date column (A) and selects names from a dropdown list for the Name column (B). The dropdown list is in G3:G7.

Here's what I want to do:
1. In E3, I want to put a dropdown list in reference to column A. But when I use Data Validation, it also shows duplicate entries, I want to be able to only show unique entries AND sort it out so that the most recent date is near your mouse pointer (something like that, I'm not sure if it's ascending or descending). I would also like blanks to be ignored.

2. In E4, I want to be able to have a dropdown list that only shows corresponding names on a given date in E3. For instance, "2014-09-2" would only show "Rob Jones" & "Josh Watson" in that dropdown list, so on. Again I want this table to be sorted alphabetically.

I'm not sure if this has already been answered, if it is, pardon me. But please link me to that thread instead. If not, please kindly help me. I'm desperate.
