Automatically use a set of numbers to return a specific figure?

    Hello,

Is there a formula that can be used so that, for example, I have 10 numbers and I have an end figure of say 100. I'm not sure exactly which of the 10 figures makes up the 100, so I'm hoping Excel will quickly be able to determine the numbers that would?

For example.. we've been invoiced for a consolidated item for £1,000... and our PO has say 10 items of specific values but unsure of which of these items make up the total.

    Many thanks in advance.

    Hi atkinsd91,

Is there a possibility that more than one combination could total 100 from your list of 10 numbers?

Do you want all of those combinations?
Remember you are unique, like everyone else

I'm sure there is a possibility of more than one combination, but if there is only the 1 then that is best. If there is multiple then it'd be good to know!

You can use the Solver Add In for this.

Can you send a file containing the numbers in Excel format?
