    =averageif( ) with multiple critieria

ONLINE TEST.xlsxI'm trying to get class averages from a list of classes that take a test.

I tried the "averageif( ) which works for getting the class average but I would like to know the Average for the students that are in the class that are either ESL or SPED?

    I tried:
    =COUNTIFS($B:$B,"Clark",$C:$C,ESL)
    =COUNTIFS($B:$B,"Clark",$C:$C,1,$D:$D,">.519")
Which works get to see how many students scored about a STANDARD for passing but my superiors want an overall average. Any help would be appreciated.

    Example:
    Student Name Class Category Score
    John Doe Science-1 ESL 80%
    Jan Rogers Science-2 SPED 70%

    The Data provided is insufficient.

upload a sample workbook without any confidential data. and also show the desired result manually.

    Hi ,

I am really confused with data provided .Clarify the below points
    1) Where did you like to have the formula
    2) Show the expected results Manually & Color them for your identification
    3) As said ESL & SPED ,i am unable to find SPED in any of your master data , any cell reference for example will be help full .

Allow me to clarify. I was simplifying what I wanted for I just wanted to learn the code and then figure it out. Yet, I made a template of how I want it.

The data comes up with the student ID, Student Name, Class Period, Class Code, Teacher Name. Then we have columns that tell us if the student is SPED, LEP, GT, and their Ethnicity. The students are indentified as "1" if they are SPED, LEP, GT or "0" if they are not. I ignore Ethnicity. I just put there in case someone ask for an analysis later on. I put the template how I want the data.

I want averages of how the teacher did overall, how they did by class, and how the students that are SPED, LEP, GT averaged in that class.

StudentId Student Meets Class Code Teacher SPECIAL_ED LEP GT ETHNICITY 8 ELA DIAG 08.06.A 08.06.B 08.06.C
