Hi everyone,

I've searched the forums and cannot find or comprehend a solution.

I have two columns, one is an alphanumeric string, with 2-4 letters and 5 numbers:

AAE34400
AAE34401
FS29100
FFTG30901

I also have a column that indicates classification

Limited
Full
Discussion

I need to identify whether the letters and the first 4 numbers match, AND if the classification is different. Thus, I would want the following return

Column A Column B Answer
AAE34400 Limited
AAE33400 Full YES
FS29100 Limited
FS29100 Limited NO
FFTG30901 Discussion
FFTG31001 Lecture NO

Any help that you could provide would be most welcome.

1. "identify whether the letters and the first 4 numbers match" Match what?
2. " if the classification is different" Different from what?

Column A has your ID's, B has your classification and you want C to say Yes or No depending on whether they meet your criteria? If the answer is yes, then why did you leave some of them blank in your example?
