    Date format using formula

    Hello,

I have a value in cell like 31-10-14 in text format. I want this to be converted to date format and appear as 31-10-14.

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks,

I don't see any difference in your actual data and the expected result

Edit: Missed to read the key word "text format"

    Re: Date format using formula

    Hi aganesan99,

    you may try this,

    =DATE(2014,10,31) and select format cells > Custom > dd-mm-yy

To prove it, is as a date format you may do like this =DATE(2014,10,31) - DATE(2014,10,29) = 2

but if you do it in Text format you will get error (31-10-14) - (29-10-14) = #VALUE!

Use Text To Columns which will do it in one shot.

But using it in single column range alone.

Refer the below link to know how
