Autofill an Absolute Reference Formula

I am in a unique situation where I would really like to auto fill an absolute reference formula to save me a ton of time typing in dollar signs for the rest of my life. Let me explain. Hopefully you can see the image below, but I have this simple budgeting formula running all down column G: =SUM(G4)+E5-F5-D5.

I frequently move things like "Transfer to checking for Christmas" from one row to another, but when I do that, it breaks all the subsequent formulas. Now I know I could just copy the item and paste it in the row above, then go back down and delete it...but that's not how I want to do it. Dragging the cell is easier. Therefore I know I need the formula to absolutely reference the cells: =SUM($G$4)+$E$5-$F$5-$D$5.

I'm pretty sure I need an INDIRECT formula, but that's beyond my expertise. Can you help? Thank you!

Re: Autofill an Absolute Reference Formula

Hi, welcome to the forum

(for a start, the use of SUM there is redundant, you could just use =G4+E5-F5-D5)

Why do you need to move things, instead of just copy/paste/delete? then your formulas wont get messed around?

Also please upload a sample of your workbook, not a picture of your data. Pictures are pretty much impossible to edit, and no-one wants to re-type your data for you
Also, not all members can upload picture files (Company firewalls and stuff)

Your workbook should show a small desensitized example of the data you are working with and a manual mockup of the expected results.
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you
