    Sorting Data with formulae

    Hi everyone

I have the attached list. I would like to sort it as it is currently, with Company 1 and Company 2 together, Company 3 and Company 4 together and the remainder of the list being ordered by the values of the "amount" column. Is there anyway to do this? I had a go with some formulae but it got very complicated and nonsensical rather quickly. Note that the position of Company 1 and 2 is dependent on the size of "amount" for the higher of the two. E.g. if Company 1 is 20 and Company 2 is 25, Company 2 will come first followed immediately by Company 1 even if (say) Company 5 is amount 23. The same is true for Company 3 and 4.

Thank very much, please ask if this is unclear!

Use Sort under the Data tab and add another level of sorting. Sort by Company name and Amount.

    Re: Sorting Data with formulae

Thanks for the comments. The sort function does not do it, because it will sort the whole list by amount, then if there are any duplicate amounts, by company, or the whole list by company, then if there are any duplicate companies, by amount.

The pivot table is closer but annoyingly we only want two of the companies from China to be together and the third one to be sorted according to amount value. There is no way to pivot to that as far as I can tell.
