Question Horizontal Look-Up fuction for Vertical Reference

    Hello,

I wanna fetch data horizontally from the vertical reference.

Is there any function to do this?

Re: Horizontal Look-Up fuction for Vertical Reference

?? Are you saying you want to find data in a VLookup, and then once found do an Hlookup off of that?

An example of your sheet, arrows and end results would help to get you to your solution.

    Thanks for reply.

But this is not an answer to my question.

I dont want to copy from column and pate to row. Rather I wanna do lookup for the data in row and reference in column.

Attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

Draw me a picture here, because you are leaving me blank... Make a quick sample file does not need to be the actual file... just show us the layout and where you want to find what. Then maybe we can give a solution to this confusion.

Re: Horizontal Look-Up fuction for Vertical Reference

    You need a Vlookup,

    =VLookup(Value,Range,ColIndex,MatchType)
this would look like this in H4 of your example

Please Login or Register to view this content.
Value is going to be the item you are looking up

Range is going to be where you would find that item (What column to start with) and where you want to look up to, so what column to end with.

ColIndex is how many columns you want to go over in your range once you find that value (Item), for your example was 2, From B to C

Match type is Exact or Close match False = Exact, True = Close

Right! and yea you can go with an Index Match as well (which in reality is the best form of lookups) which you will find in Glenn's example
