    Unhappy VLookups? Or another formula?

    Hello! And help!

I've been given a database of 20,000 names and email address for my company and my boss wants me to sort it out as soon as possible! o.O

The task I have been given is to make sure that the names, email address and a randomly generated password are all in an organised order.

My boss has managed to do it, but he's forgotten how :|

Here's an example of what it looks like at the moment (I've used a different email address for easier reading):

    login,,,,pass,,,,email,,,,first,,,,last,,,,
    [email protected],,,,BB742kd,,,,[email protected],,,,BBBWWSC,,BBBLJZD

And this is how he wants it to look like (the format might come out weird on your PC/laptop/tablet. I apologise!):
    Login Pass Email NameF NameL
    aperson 71ert6P82 aperson@localhost A Person

The document is saved in .csv format, and I was thinking of using VLookup or SUM, but I'm really unsure.

I'm generally ok with Excel, but this is very tricky for me.

So my question is, how can I make it go from example 1 to example 2? Please note, both examples are in in the same spreadsheet - good old copy and paste lol

    Can this be done?

Many thanks to all who will help! I'll be forever grateful ^-^

    Re: Can this be done?

So you have a large list of 4 column data and want it sorting in order?

highlight your full sheet by clicking the square in corner above 1 and left of A, this will highlight it all.

Select "Sort" from the Data menu
in the pop up that appears:
Select the 1st item you want sorting by, Im assuming login
if you then want to further sort on a 2nd field (such as email) then click Add level and pick the next field...(this however is unlikely to be needed if youre using login as thats got to be unique.

    Click OK

    Job done

    Hi,

Have you tried selecting the whole range and then clicking the Data Text to Columns menu item and specifying the comma as the delimiter?
