Re: Formula Horizontal and Vertical Result excel

In your example, I'm assuming you want to add any column containing W4... which means column B & C... your comment box mentions the sum to be 10 which is only column B. Do you only want column B?

If you only want column B, this is a harder formula and I can't provide you with one.

But, if you really meant for any column that matches what you want then the formula is a lot more elegant...

Since you seem to be using an old Excel version try this array formula for cell B21... make sure to CTRL-ALT-ENTER the formula to get the "magic curly brackets"...

    =SUM(($A$3:$A$16=RIGHT($A21,LEN($A21)-6))*($B$2:$I$2=B$20)*$B$3:$I$16)

Copy this formula to either the whole column or row, then copy the full column or row to the rest.

    Hope this makes sense.

Let us know if you have any questions.

    Shouldn't it be CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER?
