Help - golf society formula conundrum

Hi, apologies if this is a very simple question. I manage a golf society - we play 7 times a year and post a stableford score. The winner for the year is the person with the highest total of their best 5 scores.
I have each persons score in a line - is there a formula that can identify and add together the top 5 scores for each person? Thanks again for any help you may have

Thankyou tigertiger for taking the time to respond - much appreciated. I have read through the link and think I understand how the LARGE function can determine the 1st largest number or the 3rd largest number etc. However I can't see how that will enable me to determine the 5 largest numbers from a sequence of 7 and total those largest 5 numbers.

Apologies - I am not a very capable excel user so sorry if I can't make the jump.....

Assuming data for the first player are in B2 to H2, use

    =SUM(LARGE(B2:h2,{1,2,3,4,5}))
