Drop down list with that autofills other cells

    Hey everyone,

I just learned how to create lists and now i'm wondering if there is a function that allows my selection from that list to auto fill 3 additional cells.

I dont know if i'm approaching this correctly so i'll explain my intentions.

I want to be able to have a list of ITEMS in a drop down menu. By selecting an ITEM i wish for it to auto fill a unique PRICE, MODEL and SKU

    your help is greatly appreciated!

    -Michael

Look at using the Vlookup function to populate the cells you need for the specific value from your combo box.

    Hi Alan,

I'm familiar with vlookup and it does work but presents one issues. The cells that i wish to auto populate i would also like to be able to enter other prices/models/skus in since the database is not 100% comprehensive.

When using vlookup as i understand, you would have to delete the formula in order to make that work.

You are correct. If you are looking to auto fill then vlookup is the way.

This statement is contrary to what you asked for in the initial thread as it would then not be auto populating.

Let me reiterate. I want be able to select at item from a drop down list and have it auto populate (i got vlookup to work for this) however, i also wish to be able to not use the drop down list and to be able to manually enter the info. The issue i found with this is that in order to do so would break the vlookup formula

Which leads me to the new question. Is there a method that allows auto populate and manual entries without breaking the formulas?

In my experience it is an either or situation.
