    Index Match across 2 workbooks?

Try as I may I cant get this to work. I have two workbooks. I'm wanting to return the values as below. I cant see what im doing wrong.

    Workbook1 | Column A = ID Numbers
    Workbook1 | Column D = Location of formula

    Workbook2 | Column A = ID Numbers
    Workbook2 | Column B = Value to be returned into WB1 Column D.

    Any help appreciated!

    In Workbook1!D1
    =VLOOKUP(A1,Workbook2!A1:B1000,2,0)

Ensure you describe your problem clearly, I have little time available to solve these problems and do not appreciate numerous changes to them.

Thanks, still giving me an #n/a error. Is it because of the locations the files are stored?

Re: Index Match across 2 workbooks?

There is probably a difference between the lookup value and the value to search for. Could be a space, non printable charachters ( CHAR(10) or CHAR(160))

Try checking the length ( with the LEN function) of two strings that should be similar. Spaces can be removed with the TRIM function
