Auto Calculate Cost of Product Per Grams

Hello all! Newbie here
I am a small bussiness owner working with resin and I am trying to use excel to make a worktable that auto calculates the costs of whatever amount of resin I am using at a given time, for each resin I use.
I do that manually atm by using the rule of three: multiplying the grams of resin I am currently using with the total cost of the resin I bought and dividing that by the weight of the total resin I bought.
So I have a column for grams I want to use, a column for cost per gram and I added a line for total cost and package size trying to make my own simple formula. Simply typed =D2*B4/C2 and voila. But I still have to manually type that every time and figure out which tile is which and honestly I am trying to make a simpler automated way of doing all this and that is just not easier at all.
Please help I have no idea what I am doing here

Hi,
You need to use 'User Defined Cell Format'.
Pick [C2] cell -> right mouse button -> (maybe) Cell Format (F) -> User Define in 'Category' -> type 0 "gram" in 'Type' -> OK button.
Follow same procedure for [D2] then your equation will work.

I did what you said, but I still don't understand how that automates things?
Typing out the equation in C4 works when I do it manually anyway but isn't there a better easier way than to have to type out the equation myself every time in each cell? Even by a completely different sheet layout, or maybe a pre existing formula?

The values in [D2], [C2] have to be numeric, not Text or String. Therefore, just type '2000' and modify format according to above instruction.
And then please modify your equation [C4]: "=D$2*B4/C$2" and copy down.
