Need help with formulas to create scalable recipes.

    Ingredients Volume grams
    Carrot 7000
    Spice 50
    Salt 100
    Onion 300
    capsicum 500
    water 6000
    culture 50
    tea 70
    total 14070

I need to create a table like this that can be dynamic to allow for adjustments in quantities for manufacturing. For example I would like to be able to change the total, then have the ingredients quantities change accordingly (most urgent part of request). Also I would like to change a quantity of an ingredient and then have the quantities of other ingredients change to keep the same ratios. Its ok if separate tables are needed to do this. Can anyone help me with formula, I'm a newbie to Excel.

For example I might produce 500kg of product with a known recipe. My labelling staff would like to know how much of each ingredient is in a 600 gram jar, so they can pop that in number in the total and the quantities will change. Or we have a shortage of cabbage, so cannot do the full batch, my manufacturing staff need to know how much of the other ingredients are required to use up all the cabbage, so they add the new quality of cabbage and the other ingredients change for them.

Hi & welcome to the Forum. There are lots of ways to do this. Here's one. Make an entry in any one of the green cells and the recipe will adjust in the pink cells.

    Hi.

It's a forum rule that you start your own thread, rather than "piggy-backing" on someone else's thread. This helps prevent massive confusion arising - which will happen if it is not clear which question is being answered. So please start your own thread and explain your own problem (make sure that, right from the start, you use a meaningful title (NOT things like "help needed" or "urgent problem"... think of the Google search terms that you would use to find the solution).

A picture is worth 1,000 words. An Excel sheet is worth 1,000 pictures. So, prepare a SMALL sample sheet (10-20 rows, not thousands!!!). Make sure there is enough data to demonstrate your need. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary. Remember to remove ALL confidential information first!!!

The yellow banner about sample worksheets, at the top of the screen tells you how to post a sheet here on the Forum.
