    Biweekly Payroll Calculation

I have a biweekly payroll problem for calculating unpaid time off/sick:
    Salary $36,000
    Biweekly of $1500
    Hourly $17.31

The pay period was from 03/25/2015 to 4/06/2015 = to 12 days’ pay period at 96hrs
In this pay period this person take an unpaid day off:

    1 day off $1500-(8*$17.31) =1361.52
    2 days off
    3 days off
    Up to

11 days off $1500-(88*$17.31) = -$23.28 now this is a problem with this formulas it seem like the person is underpay how do I solve this problem.

Theoretically 96hrs *$17.31 = $1661.76 but this person is a salary employee so $1500 is the biweekly paycheck.

Any suggestion or advices great appreciated.

    Thank You

    Re: Biweekly Payroll Calculation

    Hi Anh,

As you only mentioned that the biweekly salary does not match up with the actual hourly calculation.

What you can do here, either you do the calculation basis on Hourly rate or refer to the biweekly rate both you can't apply at same time if the both don't match up.

I.e. If hourly rate is $17.31 then, the 1 day rate is $138.48 and for 12 days it should be $1661.76 and for 15 days it should be $2077.20 and for 30 days it should be $4154.40.

You can't have calculation of $1500 with $1661.76 or $2077.20. It will never match.

Let me know If you looking for something else.

    Cheers!!

    Re: Biweekly Payroll Calculation

i just want to know if there a way account for the unpaid off time of a salary employee, if he/she take like 1, 2, 3 etc... off how do i pay he/she. i know mathematically it wont work. the only way to take the biweekly pay and subtract the daily pay. but then he/she would complaint that it is underpay.

    Re: Biweekly Payroll Calculation

But how he/she would say that the salary is underpay if he/she taken 1, 2 or 3 leaves? Just wanted to know.

You have to stick to one rate either on Hourly/Daily Wages or Semi-Month Salary.
