not assume blank cell as zero in sumifs function

I'm trying to sum values between two dates. and using formula:
=SUMIFS(D12:EF12,$D$9:$EF$9,">="&C$5,D12:EF12,"<="&C$6). but in this formula blank cells count as zeroes. this distract my other formulas. how can i exclude blank cells in this summing.

can you elaborate? Possibly post a sample sheet with some data? I tried to recreate your conditions and in my example I get the proper summed value when the conditions in the two criteria ranges are met. I'm not sure what you mean by "count as zeros" since the formula is summing a range based on two sets of criteria.
