Fill cell(s) with colour based on Duration/Time and Words

Hi everyone, I need some help on a urgent request.

I'm trying to make a timetable/schedule system which basically fills certain cells selected based on duration/time of a specific word/phrase for example, in this picture

As you can see, Jessica is booked in at 11am, M+P duration is 45mins as you can see, the highlight stops at the 11:45am. B/Dry starts at 10:30am and ends at 11am. Is this function possible in some way?

The way I currently do it is manually highlight the cells however I was wondering if this operation could be done automatic?

So if I select for example, D7 and write M+P there, it would highlight 4 cells from D7, which would result D7,D8,D9,D10 highlighted.

If anyone could help me, I would really appreciate this as this up for a very important assignment.

    Thanks everyone~!

Please post a sample workbook as we cannot see nor work with images.

Click "Go Advanced" then paper clip icon to start upload.

Attached, as you can see, I highlighted the cell manually however I want it done automatically + reading my description.

    Any thoughts on possible how?

It is too early in the morning to think about this but you could highlight cells using Conditional Formatting which could colour cells which are not blank.

this means. for example. entering "M+P" in D7 and dragging down to D10. Cells D7 to D10 would be highlighted.

The attached is an example with conditional formatting in D & F.

I don't want to manually drag because the point is to try automatically have the cells filled based on efficiency rather than having to do more steps but thanks for your input and I already knew your method however it isn't what I desire unfortunately.

For it to be automated we need a table with times and personnel i.e.. to enable the timetable to be filled. It may be possible to fully automate the process - I will give it some thought!

Re: Fill cell(s) with colour based on Duration/Time and Words

Is it person dependent? For example, is M+P always 45 minutes no matter who it is?

BTW, the typical scheduling paradigm is each time slot, designated by beginning time, is equal to 15 minutes. When you fill 4 slots, with an interval of 15 minute start times, would equal one hour... not 45 minutes!

Anyway, attached performs as desired for "M+P", as an example. The others should simply be a matter of duplicating conditional formatting ranges and formula (alter formatting as desired), with the exception you will replace the "M+P" term in the formula with the desired term (e.g "B/Dry").
