How to add same text in multiple lines of the excel against identical entries????

HI Gurus,

I have a situation here where I have 42,000 entries where I want to add same entries with respect to identical entries.

Example:

I have

Sam
Susane
Rob
Jeremy
Sam
Susane
Rob
Jeremy

now I want to put A to the next cell where ever it has Sam, similarly I want to put B for Susane and C for Rob and D for Jeremy.

So it should look like

Sam A
Susane B
Rob C
Jeremy D
Sam A
Susane B
Rob C
Jeremy D
