    If AL = a value i need B1 to return a result

Hi all, I am after some assistance with the following.

    My issue is -

I need a formula that returns "external" in B1 if A1 equals test or "internal" in B1 if anything else is in A1.

    Can anyone help?

    Perhaps this?
    B1=if(A1="test","external",Internal")

Fantastic! Thank you. I have another similar question ->

    If a result e.g. x appears in D1, E1 or F1 I want G1 to return X and if D1, E1 or F1 are blank to leave blank.

    Any suggestions?

Does that mean "x" is the only possible cell entry?

    If so, try this...

    =IF(COUNTIF(D1:F1,"X"),"X","")

    Thank you.

What would be the variation to this formula if I needed "x" to appear in D1, E1 AND F1 (all three sections) before returning a result of "x" in G1 (or blank if not all three marked with "x")?

    Based on Tony's suggestion...
    =IF(COUNTIF(D1:F1,"X")=3,"X","")

    Here's another one...

    Array entered**:

    =IF(AND(D1:F1="X"),"X","")

** array formulas need to be entered using the key
combination of CTRL,SHIFT,ENTER (not just ENTER).
Hold down both the CTRL key and the SHIFT key
    then hit ENTER.
