Question Using multiple rules for one cell

Hi!

I am trying to have one cell correspond to two tables within the same worksheet. It is a date, and the color of the first (and second, hopefully) row(s) of the tables change according to the date. The first table is all set with conditional formatting =C5<$X$5 then the cells <X5 will be highlighted. C5 being the row in the table and X5 being the date. How do I do it for the second table, which essentially needs to be X5-1 month? If it helps, the date is a formula so that it will be the first day of the month.

Hard to say without seeing what you have, but maybe take a look at the EDATE() function?

=EDATE(X5,-1)

If you still have a problem, upload a small (clean) sample workbook (not a pic) of what you are working with, and what your expected outcome would look like.
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you

Sorry, really new to this. How do I upload the sample workbook? There does not appear to be an attach icon on the reply

To attach a file to your post,
click advanced (next to quick post),
scroll down until you see "manage file",
click that and select "add files" (top right corner).
click "select files" find your file, click "open" click "upload" click 'done" bottom right. click "submit reply"

Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window.
You can then close the window to return to the new post screen.

Re: Using multiple rules for one cell

Thank you so much for your help! I figured it out, it was easier than I thought it would be, it was simply =C29<$X$5-31

That will work find for 31-day months, but what about 30...or 28-day months? That's why I suggested EDATE()
