formula that returns text in range if there are multiples

hi,
i'm just building a sheet for a workbook that has drop down menus which you choose from and the sheet auto populates based on the choices made.
I'm trying to come up with a formula that will count multiples of text strings and not only return the multiple text it finds but put a number next to it that counts the times the text is found in the sheet

If you can provide a sample workbook, a solution can probably be provided.

Assuming that your strings are entered in column A, starting from A2, enter this in B2 and fill down

thanks for the help i have only just finished "fixing " some "all" data in the index so ill try that and if it odesnt work ill try to post something
