Please help, I'm getting confused writing AND, OR and SUMPRODUCT formula.

    Dear All,

I have turned to your expertise to help me write a formula after hours searching the web and experimenting with formulas. At first it seemed a simple task but now my head is spinning. I am working on Excel 2003. What I need is a sum of all the conditions that meet three certain criteria. The example below is a simplified version of what I need but it will help my understanding.

Using the picture attached how would I write a formula that adds up all the "A"s in column a that have a "D" in column b and an "F" in column c. I can do this with two criteria by writing =SUMPRODUCT((A1:A12="A")*(B1:B12="D")) however I can't make it happen with 3 criteria, I have seen examples of using AND products and OR products but not in the way I need - please help.

    Thank you in advance,

    Andy

why is it not working with three criterias?

    =SUMPRODUCT((A1:A12="A")*(B1:B12="D")*(C1:C12="F"))

    Thank you,

I feel very foolish - I tried this at the start of my evening and it didn't work. I just tried it again (using my actual document) to show that it doesn't work and ask why... however it DID work. My first attempt was simply missing an ".

A wasted few hours for a simple mistake- Live and learn I guess.
