1. ## formula to reference cell on the left and add +1

I am trying to make formula so it looks up the cell on the left and add +1 in it cell and then the next cell would do the same. Register To Reply

Assume the cell to the left is A1, then the formula in B1 will be =A1+1, then the formula in C1 will be =B1+1, and so on. Register To Reply

Thnx i understand that, but what i am trying to make is formula that would do that without me typing it in manually.
Let's assume i need to make a row with 300 inputs, im looking for one formula so i can just paste in all of them.

Something like =A1+1 turned into =(-1)+1 where (-1) would say look up value in the cell left of it. Register To Reply

Practice.xlsx

Sorry This might be more complicated than i thought.
What im trying to do is to make calendar, if you check the file i have already done so it auto generates the dates but i want to make that formula so i don't have to enter manually.
I understand that typing 30 cells in manually aint that hard, but i am trying to learn excel and i usually do best by practice so i appreciate any help thnx. Register To Reply

I am a bit confused about what you want, but try this in B6 and drag the formula to the right:

=DATE (A2,TEXT (A1,"mm"),COLUMNS (\$A:A)) Register To Reply

7. ## Re: formula to reference cell on the left and add +1

Sorry the one i uploaded was a bit old file. what i have in B6 is =DATE(A2,A1,1)
And it works it generates the days and dates according to month that is chosen in drop down menu.
in C6 i have =B6+1 and it adds the next day and date
What i am trying to make is a formula so i dont have to type =B6+2 =B6+3 in each next cell. Surley there should be a formula i can apply to each cell to do that manually.
Hope you understand. Register To Reply

On second thoughts -it's incorrect.

Use this:

=DATE (\$A\$2,\$A\$1,COLUMNS(\$A:A)) Register To Reply

Ohh yeah it did work, care to explain why ? Register To Reply

Sure. The first bit is the same as yours. The ladt bit - the columns bit - is simply a counter. A:A resolves as 1; A:B as 2, etc. Register To Reply
