    Date lookup

I'm trying to do a lookup that will return the date an item was delivered. On 1 sheet I have hundreds of pieces of equipment listed along with their the item number, type, location, customer name, shipped tracking #, etc. On a 2nd sheet I have a report pulled from our vendor that shows the item number, shipped tracking number, date it was received, and the returned tracking #.

I do a vlookup with the item number and shipped tracking number to make sure the items were received. I'd also like to add a column that shows the date it was received. The vlookup doesn't return the date, just a number value, and I haven't been able to get a Index-Match search to work either.

    Any suggestions?

    Re: Date lookup

Hi and welcome to the forum.

It's difficult to comment with certainty without seeing your request in the context of the workbook. Would you upload it please - anonymised if necessary and manually add some typical results that you expect to see and say where the results are.

    Re: Date lookup

Here is an example of what I'm looking for. I need to return the Received Date from the Vendor Report to the Date Received column on the Report.

    Re: Date lookup

You are probably not formatting the cell you are getting the results in as a date. right click on the "Date Received" after running your Vlookup formula and "format Cells", then under the "General" tab format to date.
