    I have this on a1 downwards

    Formula on b1 to drag down for result

    GC-0092 #3900

    GC-0120#6950

    To put the if it not exists , if it exists to leave it as is

    I want it to tackle those where there are no signs , and leave the cells intact where the sign exists

    It worked fine for me..

    Maybe you had the cell reference wrong, change the A2's to A1's ??

    There's a space before the hyphen in A1. A space is not a hyphen, so the formula inserts one.

    The value you have in A1 is different from what you originally posted..

    There are spaces around the -

    Is that book you posted a realistic example of all the possible formats of the value in A ?
