    numbering components within assemblies

    Hello

I have a csv file with 1,040,976 rows.

Column A contains the full assembly names, within the spreadsheet there are 42,855 different assemblies.

The other columns contain details of components within the assemblies, I need to retain the order of the assemblies and their components but also populate another column with a sequential number for each assemblies components (parts for each assembly) 1-10 (or however many components make up that assembly).

I figure I need to mark the duplicate groups of rows and somehow label each row within the group.

I would really appreciate some help!

    Thank you.

    Charlie

    Re: numbering components within assemblies

I've attached a small section of the csv file. I have manually populated the "LOP NUMBER" column and I need to find a way to populat the 1,040,976 lines in the same sequential way.
    Thank you!
