Hi! I am not sure if I understand your request. Could you include two sheets in your file, one with the data - "Before", and another one with the expected result -"After"-? This might be helpful (at least to me...).

    Can the data be sorted?

Hi, put the folowing formula into cell F2 and copy down, I think that will do what you want.

In your sample you have entries where A, C D and E are the same but have different serial numbers (101 and 102).

Does each combination of A,C ,D and E have its own (single) serial number?

    Confused!

Oops, yeah sorry, I didn't look at the picture and misunderstood the question........I think
And as JohnTopley rightly pointed out, in your picture the groups 101 and 102 have the same data. Why is there 2 different serial numbers?

Hehe, ok so I had another go and admit partial defeat, I think this will work but it's a bit dodgy.
I think an array or pivot table might be better but I'm useless at both really.
This example uses a helper column which essentially doubles your data (hence the dodgy bit).
You enter the first serial no. minus 1 in cell F2.

I love trying to figure things like this out, but I'm nowhere near any kind of expert....sorry if I seem to waste peoples reading time occasionally but this is such a great way to learn
