count in one col and add to another

    Hello,
Hoping I can have some assistance with my query please.
In my sheet in Col A I have numbers which can go up and down as per example.
In Col E there is ether a letter W or L.
Now what I would like to do is whenever the L's in Col E reach 11 in succession then to have 5 added to Col A.
    This to be ongoing.

What you mean with "reach 11"? The sum of Col A or the count of "L"s in Col E?

And what you want to do after? Didn't get the point

    Hello Gatti,
Thanks for your response.Yes when the count of L's in succession without any W's in between reach 11 in Col E.When that happens I want 5 to be added to Col A's total. As in the example in row 13 Col E has reached 11 L's in succession. Therefore I would like to have 5 added to the total in ColA,making it 31.

Do an auxiliar column beside Col A with the "new numbers"

    On B1:

And where do you want the results? If you want them in column A, you will need VBA a a cell cannot contain both an input (e.g. 26 in cell a13) and an output (31, as the result of a formula).

Also, what if there are 22 consecutive Ls? Does that count as two times +5, or just as one?

Re: count in one col and add to another

    Hello @Gatti,
Thankyou. That works for the first instance. However I would like it to be able to do this continuously.
I have included a larger version of the sample.
    Hello @Glenn,
Thank you for your reply. It would no doubt be better if I could have it all completed in Col A as that is the Col I
    work with for other matters.
If there were 22 consecutive L's then I would need 5 added after the first 11 L's and then 5 more added after the next 11 L's.
As I Mentioned above this is a continuous process. So there might be 2W's followed by 11L's when 5 needs to be added then
3W's,2L's,1W,11L's when 5 needs to be added followed by 11L's when 5 more needs to be added and so on.

@Glen. Still new to this.If I would like to see if someone can provide a VBA solution to have it in Col A do I have to post it in the other section relating to programming,VBA etc.
