    Max(indirect(named range)) causes #REF

    I have a named range AL_Year1_Nts.

If I type into a cell, =Max(AL_Year1_Nts) the formula works fine.

    If I type Max(Indirect("AL_Year1_Nts")) I get #REF

    If I type ="AL_Year1_Nts" into cell B1, and then in C1 type =Max(indirect(B1)) I also get #REF

I've also tried saving the cell as an array formula, but still throws the error. What am I not seeing here?

    Thanks for any help. Mark

How is the named range defined?

If it's defined using functions like OFFSET then INDIRECT chokes.

Well, Biff, you guessed it. These are dynamic range names using OFFSET. I'll make some changes and try again. Thank you very much! Mark
