    VLOOKUP & Formatting Issue

    Hi,

I have a VLOOKUP as follows:

    =VLOOKUP(B1,Sheet1!$A$1:$D$1000,3,FALSE)

The issue I have is that this returns an #N/A result. I understand (from google) this is down to formatting. So I've changed both the cells in column B and the range in Sheet1 to General (I've also tried Numbers at 0 decimal places). Neither of which work. However, when I do a straight copy and paste with a cell value from Sheet1, into a (matching value) cell in column B, the formula works fine.

Can anyone help out and advise what I'm doing wrong?

    Re: VLOOKUP & Formatting Issue

    Hi,

If you are getting #N/A, that means your formula did not find the value your are looking for.

It seems you may have some numbers which looks like numbers but aren't really (either in B1 or the range A$1:$D$1000)

Try replacing them with real numbers, post a sample if otherwise.

    Regards,

    Hi,

Thanks - I didnt want to post the book as its got lots of information in that is private - but I solved it. I copied and pasted as values the column in Sheet1 and it fixed it. I thought I'd tried that already, but seemingly not!
