    Shift rotation

    Hi All,

I'm new to this so please be gentle.

I have been looking at a way to record my shifts which rotate and repeat like so throughout the year, week 1(M-off,T-off,W-On,T-On,F-Off,S-Off,S-Off) Week Two (M-On,T-On,W=off,T-off,F-On,S-On,S-On). I have managed to create a excel sheet that has the dates for every month and what I want to do is have the work sheet enter and repeat this shift pattern with an option to add any overtime shifts that are worked. In addition I want it to total every months working hours. I'm stuck on the formula

    Anyone help with this.

    Re: Shift rotation

Why Didn't you post your spreadsheet so we could build on that?

Attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

Click on GO ADVANCED and then scroll down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window (or use the paperclip icon).

    Re: Shift rotation

    JonniBravo,

    Try the attached.

Col A has the dates every Monday.

The cells in Col B - H are in the repeated pattern. The "rest" shift are filled in orange.

In the "odd" weeks (where you work only Tuesday and Wednesday), the "Scheduled" total in COl I is =D2+E2, The "overtime" hours in Col J =B2+C2+F2+G2+H2

In the "even" weeks (where you have Tuesday and Wednesday off) the formulae are reversed.

The monthly totals simply include all the cells that fall in that month, so January is =SUM(B2:H5)(because the last day is in the last column, but February is =SUM(B6:H9,B10)(because the month ends in the first column)

    Hope this helps
