    If X, then Y

Hi! Apologies in advance as my excel know-how is quite limited.

My question is an if function.

I have a list of zip codes, and I want to tag them as 'eastside' or 'westside.'

So, if A2 is 90066, than B2 is Westside.

In the case that the zipcode is one of 30 zip codes, I would like to be able to tag "eastside" or "westside" to any of them.

in essence, I have 50 zips, and i want to be able to tag them as one of the two terms.

Thank you for help in advance!

Each zip corresponds with a different part of Los Angeles. I would like to mark that as either "Eastside" or "westside"

Does that make sense? Thank you for inquiring!

How could anyone know whether a zip is eastside or westside without looking at a map?

    Hi,

Attached is an example using the Zip Codes you provided. You will need to provide one set of Zip Codes that represents "Westside" of Los Angeles and enter them in column F.
I googled the heck out of East and West Los Angeles and couldn't find a definitive list of Zip Code for one particular side or the other.

The current set of Zip codes representing the "Westside" of Los Angeles were derived from latitude and longitude of the zip codes as listed on:

    http://www.geonames.org/postal-codes...alifornia.html

I have given column F a name of "Westside.

This formula starts in B2 and is copied down.
