Index Match Formula Not Pulling Correct Results

    Hi,

I was in the process of trying to pull data from a table using an Index, Match Formula, but for some reason, it is pulling from the incorrect results.

Based on the attached spreadsheet, I am trying to pull how many reports are worked on by Company Code Per state. The list of states is in Column A, and the company codes are in row 11. So, I thought that my formula would easily pull when it set it up like this:

However, when I go to lookup say Delaware for company 8601 it is pulling up a different state and company code.

Is there a quick fix to this?

in the index / match formula you first need to declare the ROWS and second the COLUMNS

That is where it went wrong.

    see my changed formula.
Notice my main language is not English.

I appreciate it, if you reply on my solution.

    Try this...

    =VLOOKUP(M12,A11:J61,MATCH(N12,A11:J11,0),0)

It is always good to add to whom you are replying.

The index / match formula will work, if you remove the trailing space in the file e.g. maine
