Best Way - Create pie chart on top fruits plus last is "other"

    Hello,

What is the best way to create a pie chart based on data to calculate the top 9 categories (multiple rows with $ as top and fruit as category) and then have the 10th value as "other" (needs to sum the remaining categories that are not in top 9). I also want to omit the category "TBD" as a top 9. What is the best way to do this? I know a pivot table is a perfect way to do this, but I need the other categories to be grouped as "other" and I need TBD removed from list. If I go to top 10 - that doesn't work... what kind of formulas would you use to make this work?

Let's say the Category is Column A and the price is Column B.

    Thanks so much!

I might consider using rank to rank the prices and anything outside of the top 9 replace the number with "Other". It may required two columns.

Rank in column C and place other along with the top 9 rank in column D.

There are multiple categories that need to be summed so the top 9 need to be found based on the total sum of each category, not item. TBD also needs to be removed and the formulas need to be as automatic as possible.

In order to get the best help possible....

Attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

Sum categories extract to overview tab.xlsx

Will do! Attached is the spreadsheet. I have a pivot table but need this to work where I only see top 9 then the other two categories need to get summed together and then changed to "other". The overview tab has what I'm looking for

I've posted to ask others to take a look at this, but it seems there are some open questions.

Like, you say the Top 9, but in reality, flower, mango, and cherry all equal 10,000.

What is the reason for showing flower as # 9 and showing mango and cherry as other?

What not just build a PT with Row Labels = type and Values = Sum of size, then on the PT click on Row Labels and Value Filters Top 10?
