Unhappy Transfer data from Master Sheet to individual sheets

I'm new in using excel v-lookups and macros please bear with me.

I have an excel workbook with 10 TABS- One of the tabs is my "Master sheet" which has all the data, in that data I have a column labeled "person assigned".

Then I have 9 tabs labeled ( by the name of the) "person assigned"

What I am needing to do is whenever I update the "master" tab under notes or anywhere, I need the corresponding tab for the person assigned also to be updated at the same time. That way I am not having to enter my notes or changes twice.

What is the formula or macro I would need or is this a v-lookup? I apologize I'm pretty new to this...

Also the columns in my master sheet is E2 and Notes section is I2

the column is the same on the other 9 tabs. (E & I COLUMNS)

    Re: Macro or vlookup?

IMHO, the proper method would be to use a macro. Formulas would just bog down your sheet.

Why even have ten tabs? Why not put all of your information on the "Master Sheet" and then filter as need be. The inherent problem, if you enter something on the "Master Sheet" and you use a macro to transfer information to the individual named sheets, what happens if information is entered on the individual named sheets? You know have to figure out how to transfer the data vice versa, to the "Master Sheet".

If you need the individual sheets because maybe you send that information out to the individuals, why not just keep all information on the "Master Sheet" and use a macro to create the individual named sheets and send that info forward.

    Just stuff to think about....

Re: Transfer data from Master Sheet to individual sheets

What I have sometimes done is reserve a helper cell in each sheet that matches the sheet name (assuming they exactly match "person assigned").

Then with all "person ..." sheets grouped enter this formula in say A1. With sheets grouped this will drill down returning each sheet's name in its respective A1.

    Formula: copy to clipboard

You will likely want to copy and paste values back onto A1 (still grouped) as the CELL function is volatile.

If you aren't familiar with grouping sheets just click on the first sheet and while holding down the shift key click on the last sheet.
