Data validation

Hi all,
I am trying to create a custom data validation that will a) ensure that a cell is filled in as a date and b) that the date entered is later than the date entered in another cell. So for example, if cell A2 has 9/17/16 then I want to create a data validation for cell B2 that will make sure an entry in B2 is a date and that date is after 9/17/16. Please and Thank you!

Say your date is in Cell A1. You want the validation on Cell B1. Then click on Cell B1. Go to Data validation form Data tab. Select Date on validation Criteria. Select greater then in Data. Write =$A$1 in Start Date. Now you can change Input Message and Error Alert if you want. Then click Ok and you are done.
